The project consortium and associated parters met at the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) in Potsdam to launch the new REGULUS TreeDigitalTwins project.
TreeDigitalTwins aims at innovation in AI-based methods for the analysis of 4D point clouds by establishing an interdisciplinary innovation group of young scientists in combination with a regional practitioner network. Young scientiest from University of Postdam, the University of Sustainable Development Eberswalde and from the SMES Point Cloud technology will work in methodical life laboratories in the Berlin-Brandenburg region on the topic: 4D point clouds and AI-based methods for the creation of digital twins of vegetation stands for use in the integrative management of forests.
At the project kick-off, project partner ATB invited stakeholders to their short rotation wood plantations.
The project is embedded in the BMBF funding measure “Regional innovation groups for a climate-protecting forestry and timber industry (REGULUS)”.
The project is implemented with:
Digital Engineering Fakultät der Universität Potsdam und des Hasso-Plattner-Instituts (“DEF-UP-HPI“)
Leibniz-Institut für Agrartechnik und Bioökonomie e.V. (“ATB”)
