It4Forest enthusiast Nicole Albert took the floor at the Remote Sensing Practice Day (“Praxistag Fernerkundung”) at the Landeskompetenzzentrum Forst Eberswalde (LFE). The aim of the event on July, 10, was to provide interested forestry practitioners and potential users of remote sensing products with a realistic understanding of current technological capabilities and limitations in deriving practical information from remote sensing data. Among others Nicole Albert gave an introduction to satellite-based remote sensing and explained the underlying physical principles. With her presentation Nicole contributed to highlighting remote sensing products particularly relevant to forestry, their respective spatial and temporal resolution and the corresponding options for procurement and utilisation.
Further presentation covered various topics, including vegetation indices, data processing, and interpretation, allowing participants to gain valuable insights into the practical use of remote sensing in forestry. Overall, the event aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the field of forestry.
