It4forest enthusiasts Stefan Reder and Ramazan Bülbül together with a wide range of participants from various interest groups from the forestry, wood and nature conservation clusters attended a workshop organised by the two BMBF funded projects ADAPT-Wald-Holz and TreeDigitalTwins. The workshops on 25 January aimed at generating ideas for potential applications and the associated technical requirements for 4D point clouds in the forest value chain. It became clear that digital twins can do much more than just map and measure forest stands. Rather, they have the potential to be a key element for the traceability of wood along the entire wood value chain, from the “forest to the closet”.
