Prof. Luis Miranda, and Prof. Jan-Peter Mund, next to other professors and researchers from HNEE pitched their research insights and results at the 8th Forum on Innovations in Forest & Wood. The event jointly organised by HNEE and Leonhard Ventures aimed to connect all those working on forest and wood looking for innovation, funding, clients, joint ventures or just for a marketing opportunity .

On March 14, vice president of HNEE Alexander Pfriem welcomed startups and SME, along the entire wood value chain as well as researchers working on green biotechnology, plant breeding or reforestation to IoT and software applications, drones, and timber works to the forum. HNEE was also well represented with know-how, input and innovations also presented by Prof Tobia Cremer, Dr. Ferréol Berendt, and Dr. Felipe de Miguel Díez.

Prof. Jan-Peter Mund presented work on Digital forest twins for simulating forest growth and timber harvesting. He detailed the process of developing a digital twin of a forest. By showcasing examples Prof Mund highlighted the benefits of point cloud analysis for forest management and the wood value chain.
